Letter to my Daughter on her 2nd Birthday
To my sweet little girl. . .
I cannot believe that you are two already! You are honestly the most beautiful soul, the kindest person and the fiercest spirit I have ever encountered. May you have a birthday filled with family, friends, hugs and laughter!
For your special day, I thought I’d write down a few bits of advice I have picked up along my journey as a woman and as a Mama…
Bella, you are beautiful, intelligent and kind. Remind yourself of that daily.
Always have your say; the world needs your opinion.
Try to read every day, staying up late to finish a good Chapter is never time wasted.
Food is an experience. Cook because you love to, not because someone tells you you’re supposed to.
Music makes any mood better. Listen and enjoy. And dance from your soul.
Laugh hard so that your dimples show. Those dimples melt my heart.
Nothing you tell me will ever make me want to stop hearing from you. I may not like what you say, but I’m always here to listen.
Blue eyes really do melt hearts.
A good movie can change how you see your own life.
When in doubt, add something sparkly.
Don’t be too proud, admitting you were wrong is a sign of strength, not weakness.
I’m always on your side, especially when you think I’m not.
I will annoy you and make you angry. You will do the same to me. And that’s okay.
Feel what you need to, but watch your words, try not to say anything you can’t take back.
Don’t be afraid to fight for what you believe in. I will strive to raise you to be a strong woman.
Curls need good conditioner. And straighteners ruin your hair. Keep that in mind.
A good cry, chocolate and some girlfriends make for the best therapy.
Don’t sell yourself short. Not for anyone. A strong man will respect a strong woman. Never settle for anything but the best.
No matter what it is, give it your all.
Be the person you wish you had as a friend. Be kind, honest and loyal.
Travel!! Experience, taste, touch, see, smell and love around the world.
You can’t control what other people think of you. Don’t let it get to you.
The details of a first kiss will require girlfriends and late-night giggles over ice-cream.
I will be your best friend, but I am always your Mommy first.
Your Daddy will teach you about music, sport and cars. Learn the classics, learn what a penalty is and learn how to change your own tyre.
Stop and look at the sunset. Take a deep breath and savour it every time.
Don’t be ruined by a broken heart. Feel it and move on. You will find love again.
Be open to being silly. Always have fun!
If you are ever taking yourself too seriously, do the Hokey Pokey. Wherever you are, just do it.
Challenge yourself as often as you can, push your boundaries and leave your comfort zone.
Learn at least one foreign language.
Always have manners. Being a lady will always be revered.
The truth is always the best option. Even if it hurts, it will keep you sane.
You can always come home to me.
Women are brave and beautiful. Being a woman is a gift. Own it with pride.
Daughters are the best teachers, they show us our own mothers, and you made me appreciate mine. You will only understand this when you are a Mamma.
You saved me without knowing it. You taught me about myself. You are my greatest life lesson and biggest achievement.
You will always be my baby girl. No matter how old you are, I am always here for hugs and squishels!
Happy birthday my Bella boo, my sprinkle pop, my bean sprout!
I love you!
